Room 15 Term 4

Class plays!

I wasn't here yesterday but by the sound of it the plays were really good.
Apparently Charlizes group did really well. Caylen said there was a few mistakes
in his group but it was probably good enough, at least they tried

I am a turbo, I can make an engine go fast
by attaching myself to the engine manifold. I applie
a very similar principle to a piston engine. I use the
exhaust gas to drive a turbine. I spin an air compressor
that pushes extra air and oxygen into the cylinders
allowing them to burn more fuel each second

Donald Trump's 911 reenactment

I don't hate Donald Trump but I don't like him either
I mean he could always change in to a lovely person
or he could change in to an orange beast.

I found out about Donald Trump winning the election
on Facebook because there was a "Live" video and it
showed him walking up to the stage and giving a speech
on how proud he was because he won.

I wonder how Donald Trump won the election,
he probably ridged the voting machine and gave himself
a whole bunch of votes.

Opinions I have heard about Donald Trump being president
  1. Donald Trump is a rapist and should never get the right to be in the white house
  2. Donald Trump is a orange disgrace to man kind
  3. Holly says he is a racist
  4. Caylen says is a sexist president
  5. Nathaniel says he is sexist and racist, and 80% of his business is Mexican
  6. James says he will do good a president
  7. Oliver says he is a very un thoughtful man

I was watching a movie called The Conjuring 2! It was creepy and almost terrifying.
The Conjuring 2 was a lot more spooky and monstrous than the first one. There were
lost spirits in the movie that could be invisible. A young girl got possessed by a fearsome
petrifying ghost. The ghost could make it self look like a real person which was really
menacing. Its pretty magical that the ghost can do that though. The house the family
was living in was haunted.

Athletics

Athletics was pretty fun I guess but im pretty
bumed that I didn't get a position in shot put like last year

Last weekend.....
I was driving down this dirt road in my dads truck and
I was going pretty fast, I swerved to miss a bump there was a
tree right in front of me! I swerved again and missed the tree
then the rear end was sliding out which was making me turn right,!
I clutch kicked it and turned left which made it slide left then right
then left then straight I had it all under control, I did that all one handed
with my right arm out the window enjoying the breeze!

Freedom Friday Writing

When I grow up I want to be a professional off road racer which is going to be easy
considering that I can already go 80 km down a bumpy curvy shingle road! I want
to have my own race car with a sr20 dett in it and have my own pit crew

I fixed my bmx after school yesterday and now it looks amazing

This week is sunsmart week

Sunsmart week is very relevant in Twizel because of the strange weather we have, first
it could be rainy then very hot and sunny in less than 10 minutes!, then it could be the other
way around and it could be hot and very sunny then freezing cold and haling!

Dear Board of Trustees

What are you thinking, no camps! But what about Huxley? the school owns it! what are we going to do with it if were not aloud to go on camps there I'm not the biggest fan of the tramps but Huxley was always better so I think you should let us go on tramps because 1 camp can be one of the most rewarding, unforgettable experiences in a kid's life.

2 To try new things. Camp pushes children out of their comfort zone and exposes them to new activities and experiences that they may not be familiar with.

3 To build character. On top of making new friends, campers also develop an appreciation for the qualities required to cultivate and strengthen these relationships.

Also 100% of the class agrees that we should have camp!

I hope you make the right decision

Sincerely Brayden

Water Challenge
What it water means for me?-
If we didn't have water we wouldn't have rivers and then we wouldn't have
fish then we wouldn't have food. Water is a huge part of our lifestyle, culture and
economy, we play in it, generate power from it, win medals in it, gather food from it,
drink it and farm with it. As such an important resource, water is often at the centre of
nationwide debate over how we should use it, protect it, sell it, share it, own it and keep safe in it.

Antarctica
Antarctica New Zealand's role in science is to establish themes and priorities for New Zealand Antarctic science; encourage and facilitate

the implementation of science projects that deliver on them; and present the outcomes and benefits of and advocate for Antarctic science.
Antarctica New Zealand has a strong established history of environmental leadership. The environment and our
impact on it is one of the driving considerations in every decision we make when operating in Antarctica

Antarctica New Zealand is the government agency charged with carrying out New Zealand's activities in
Antarctica supporting world leading science and environmental protection.
Our vision is: Antarctica and the Southern Ocean - valued, protected, understood.
We work to ensure that Antarctica's environment continues to be protected, that scientists are supported to
find the answers to complex scientific questions, and that science outcomes are communicated back to
policy makers and the public.

SCOTT BASE
  • Pram Point, Hut Point Peninsula, Ross Island in McMurdo Sound
  • 77 o 51' S, 166 o 46' E
  • 10 m above sea level
Scott Base, New Zealand's only Antarctic research station, perches on a low volcanic
headland called Pram Point at the Southern End of Ross Island, 3500kms south of Dunedin and 1350kms from the South Pole.
Its setting is dramatic. An active volcano, Erebus, looming over its shoulder.
The Ross Ice Shelf in ramming mode out in front causing the land, pressure waves of ice rear up.

Here's some links to some interesting websites I have found including facts about Antarctica and Scott Base
  1. http://www.antarcticanz.govt.nz/scott-base
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica
  3. http://discoveringantarctica.org.uk/oceans-atmosphere-landscape/ice-land-and-sea/key-physical-features/

Some questions we should ask at the virtual field trip next month
  1. What do you like about your job?
  2. Have you ever visited Antarctica?
  3. How long have you been interested in Antarctica for?
  4. If you have visited Antarctica how was it?
  5. What made you interested in Antarctica?
  6. How long have you been working here for
  7. How cold is the water in Antarctica
  8. Are there any permanent residents in Antarctica

A dragon goes to work!

Once upon a time a dragon named Harry applied for a job at the mechanic shop down the road from the grand hotel, how convenient huh.
Harry was a naughty dragon and found joy out of terrorising people which was a problem if he was going to work with people all day long,
so first he would have to get over that activity if the Boss of the mechanic shop would even consider hiring him. I came out of the staff room
and confronted Harry the dragon and interguesed myself Hello my name is Brayden I work here as another mechanic.

My dirtbike broke down in the weekend but its fine because im going to fix it after school :(

Goals for this term
  1. Term four is the last term as an Intermediate aged student. One goal for Brayden is to use the SNAP method of thinking about actions being taken.
SNAP-logo.png
2. The subject I am going to STRIVE in this term is

I found the cargo planes interesting, because I like planes.
That we don't have to go to school.
i think we will learn Heaps of things.
i thin we should send me to Antarctica because it would be funny.

What I already know about Antractica
  • Its absolutely freezing
  • It is South of New Zealand
  • The geographic and magnetic south poles are in it
  • It had the coldest temperature in the world of -89.2 degrees
  • Antarctica is classified as a desert

What I already know about Dairy Farms
  • They have animals on them
  • 21,000,000 dairy calves are slaughtered every year
  • Due to extensive genetic manipulation, today's dairy cows produce up to 12 times more milk than they would naturally produce to feed a calf.
  • Some female calves will join the milking herd

English Describe a favourite place you have visited

My favourite place I have visited and why is Christchurch because it
has heaps of fun activities to do and you will probably never get bored
as long as you money of course. My favourite thing to do is go rock climbing
indoors. I am also born in Christchurch which is cool.

English
A special day that I will always remember is when I found out that my dad
past on his dirt bike to me. The dirt bike was very special it is a Kawasaki KX 250
and I have it till this day! its very powerful and that's how I like it!
An even better reason to remember that day is that we went out on my dirt bike and
I threw up because it was a very hot day and I got heat stroke!!
But then I chugged down a bottle of water and came right.
We were down at the iron bridge and as soon as I realised that my granddad was
driving down the gravel road I saw my two uncles in the car as well I was pretty excited!

What is cool about T.A.S.
  • We get to use Samsung computers.
  • We get to go skiing more than other schools.
  • We are aloud to listen to music while we do our work which is cool because it makes it easier to do work.
  • I like not having a fence around the school
  • I like that we arent in the same class room all day

In term three I have been striving in
  • P.E by bringing my P.E gear all the time now!
  • Options by learning how to use the compass better.
  • Tech by learning from my mistakes and overcoming them.

In science this week we are learning about electricity history about Anastasio Volta
and Thomas Edison and so on. There is some disturbing information like how Thomas
Edison electrocuted an elephant in 1903.

The first paragraph in my DEAR book just now is...

Most people look forward to the holidays but the
stretch between Thanksgiving and Christmas just
makes me a nervous wreck. If you make a mistake
in the first eleven months of the year, its no big deal.
But if you do something wrong during the holiday season,
your gonna pay for it. Its too much pressure to be on your
best behaviour for a whole month. The most I can really
handle is six or seven days in a row. So if they moved
Thanksgiving to the week before Christmas, it would
be fine by me.

Friday...... 29 of July

I was at home sick as a dog. I got had the little bit of strength left in me to carry
my PlayStation 4 up stairs and into my room to watch Netflix and sleep. 2 hours
later when I woke up it was like 10 30 and I felt a bit better so I started up black ops
3 and spent an hour playing that... Then my mum got home and brought me up a
lettuce and ham sandwich it was divine.

Grand theft Auto 5 Online is one of my favourite games I've played in my life.
gta has so much opportunity's such as buying cars playing LTS's ( last team standings) with your
friends and doing heists and just plain mucking around and having fun. Lewis, Luca, Bailey, and I
play gta online together. We play this car mission called runners VS zentornos. Its a game about
the running team having to run on a platform over obstacles while the zentorno team try to hit them
off, my favourite is being the zentornos because im great at hitting them off mostly first try, But if
we don't hit all the runners off, and they make it to the end there is jets and buzzards and tanks
and guns and sticky bombs so they can kill us. I recommend Gta Online to people that are into
shooting, missions, cars, motorcycles, and so on.

Tuesday 7th June we had set off flooring it down to Oamaru in the
great heavy vans that each had about ten people in each. First
pit stop was Kurow public toilets, most of us ran to the play ground
but the others zoomed off to the toilet I guess they really needed to go.
Right were back in the bus going full speed to Oamaru art gallery.
Ahhhhh went all of us stretching and moaning while walking in to
the Gallery to meet Elizabeth the curator. First she mentioned that
the building wasn't just a Museum it has been a bank and a home,
Elizabeth informed us about all the artefacts in her gallery. It was
a small gallery but definitely has treasurers history in it.

I enjoyed the Art Gallery because It didn't just have boring
stuff it actually had cool paintings, artefacts and I enjoyed
listening to Elizabeth :)

My dirt bike is a kx250 this is what it looks like.... by the way I love it!

Yawn.... Where the holey baloney am I. I stretched my eyes in the dark and saw painting
that had a little boy hunched over a table cooking dinner. I wondered what kind of family
would let their child cook dinner by himself then I realized that I had seen that painting
on a pole saying missing I had a small panic attack! I got up and pulled my phone
out of my pocket and turned on the torch app that I downloaded. A small object had
burst through a window and hit me in the head. Ohhh again my head is sooo lumpy
I got back up and found a green door with a strange pattern carved into it I walked
towards it and quietly opened the door with the floor crackling away louder and louder
as I turned the door nob... The door flew open all I could see was darkness I walked into it
and I incinerated

The Prince and the Albatross Egg 1994

The video conference began with a girl from Half Way Bush School
explaining the nesting habits at the royal Albatross colony at the Otago Peninsula.

Prince Charles arrived and sat down quietly amongst the Wellington children and listened.
Then he took a microphone and began asking questions.

"What is the wing-span of the adult Albatross?"
"Up to 3.5 meters," they all answered all together.
"And how big is a Albatross Egg?"

The Dunedin children help one up in front of the television camera.
The Prince noted that it was very big - no room for two eggs in an Albatross nest.

Then came an unexpended royal question.

"Can you eat an Albatross Egg do you think?"

There was a long silence. No one in New Zealand would think of eating a Royal Albatross Egg.
There are only a few nesting pairs in New Zealand, and we are carefully protecting them.
But other Albatross Eggs? On sub - Antarctic islands where they are common?

Nobody knew the answerer - except me. I was dying to butt in.
I had lived on Albatross and penguin eggs while teaching on Falkland Islands.
Huge eggs that filled a dinner plate, and turned into a heavy transparent jelly when cooked.
Eggs with a distinctly fishy flavour

WAITAKI TAOKA

external image W0FNXp-H.jpeg
external image moveabletypeexhib_nom2015_1_0.jpg?itok=VjW5lIot

On a February afternoon, in 1953, Allan Willetts was using a tractor and swamp plough to dig up a little-used paddock near the Waitaki River mouth.

Waitaha people made these artefacts. It was once thought that this site was a small, temporary camp. In 1997 an archaeological report suggested it was an extensive waka building ‘factory’. Researchers located up to 430 umu (ovens) and estimated the inhabitants cooked 90,000 moa during their occupation.
The number of objects is vast – from tiny fishing lure to large tree felling adzes. All were expertly hand made with stone tools. Many adzes are made of stone collected from remote sites around New Zealand.

This Term summary!

This term was pretty fun I enjoyed the small group
Lewis, Corbyn, Nathan, Daniel, Luca and I would
get into and just talk about random things and listen
to music while we do our work on our Wiki and

I Am A Only Child
In my family I am a only child, I guess you could say im lucky but
quite frankly I find it very boring! Yes I do get spoilt and im lucky
to have parents like I do, but I would like to have a little sister
to take care of and be there for her. But there is also an advantage
of being a only child and that is that my parents dont have to share their
love because im their only child, I get all the LOVE! My mum and I
have agreed that we dont need another child because we get my
adorable cousin Mia every second weekend so thats good enough. :)

The Eternal Banyan Tree

The banyan tree is the type of tree that the Buddha sat under, according to some legends, but its mythological significance goes even deeper. While banyans are real trees, there are many beliefs that persist to this day regarding their magical nature. One story tells of a father who had his son take a fruit from the tree and look at the seeds inside. The boy was then told to open one of the seeds and tell his father what he saw inside. He explained that he saw nothing, and his father explained that from that nothing, the banyan tree sprang forth.

The Nukes

Ding dang ding ding went Ben, Dave and Snappa on their ukuleles and banjo. Snappa
was very funny and showed off an awesome magic trick that was pretty extraordinary.
I was shocked.

Ben was shockingly amazing on his ukulele. I only wish we could of listened to their
hormonal voices once more.

TOP OUTDOOR SPOT

My top outdoor spot is a extraordinary amazing looking spot.
My family's favourite spot is Waipara, my Dad and I love going
out there every second weekend and ripping out on our dirt bikes
it was such a blast we would of course go for a little walk and take
the view in and try find another place we can rip our bikes at.
Waipara is full of awesome breath taking obstacles to do at all times.
First there's four wheeled driving, swimming in the river, dirt biking,

BENJI MY DOG

Once upon a time in a magical place called home
there was me asleep in the great holidays, mum
had seen benji running up stairs and into my
room. Benji had saw that I was asleep/not active,
so he started nudging me with all his force and power
and I still was asleep. Next he got angry and crawled
under the covers and slid down to my toes and
started biting them, and woke me UP! I jumped
up and gave him a fright he scattered down stairs
and hid behind the couch. I walked down stairs
and walked up to him he lied down with his paws
in the air and i picked him up gave him a big HUG

Yesterday I got given THAT letter and when I got home I walked in side and looked at mum with butterflies in my
stomach! I unzipped my bag and chucked the letter at her and said heres THE letter and ran up stairs.
